How long has Triple O Dental labs been trading?
Triple O Dental laboratories Ltd has been trading for some 30 years. It is well recognised as one of the UK and Europe's largest and most respected orthodontic laboratory.
Do you do crown and bridge or other dental work at Triple O?
No, at Triple O, we specialise in orthodontic appliances, orthodontic training and orthodontic supplies.
Do I have to be accredited to be able to use the SmileTRU System or clear positioners?
Yes, Accreditation is split into two categories, one for levels 1 &2 and another for levels 3 & 4.
Level 1 & 2 are for simple cases requiring the straightening of the anterior teeth only. Accreditation for this level is achieved by means of an online video followed by a phone call. Please follow this link to watch the video Accreditation video
Levels 3 & 4 are for full arch orthodontics and require the attendance on the 2 day Advanced SmileTRU course with Dr Skip Truitt. Click here for more details SmileTRU Advanced Seminar
Is SmileTRU suitable for all orthodontic cases?
Although SmileTRU is suitable for a wide range of orthodontic cases, it is not right for every case.
The lab will advise you if a case is not suitable and should be able to offer a different method of treatment for that individual case based on the patients requirements and the clinicians skill level.
What impression material should I use?
We do not insist on any particular material, please use which ever you feel most comfortable with. What matters most is that the impression is of good quality and captures the distal aspect of the last standing tooth in each arch.
Will I need to do IPR?
IPR may be required in a SmileTRU case. Exactly how much to do, where and when to do it will be detailed to with your initial digital setup before the actual treatment is approved for production. An IPR guide is available Here.
How do I know what level of SmileTRU treatment will be the right one?
This will be something that you will be able to determine once you have some experience with the system. As a basic guide:
Level 1 will treat 3-3 (you can treat a single arch in most cases but it will be case dependant)
Level 2 will treat 5-5 (you can treat a single arch in most cases but it will be case dependant)
Some cases will however be higher than the requested level due to the need to spread IPR across more teeth.
Level 3 will treat a full arch and must be completed as a double arch treatment
Level 4 is pre-treating severely crowded cases which are unsuitable for clear positioners alone. Generally used on cases requiring arch development (narrow or V shaped arches) and utilises low profile devices such as the A.L.F or RN-Sagittal appliance. This level can then be followed by levels 1, 2 or 3 SmileTRU clear aligners
The laboratory will advise you of the level at the digital setup stage before you give the go ahead to produce the clear positioners.
How can I view the 3D setups that you send me?
You will need to download and install the free software to be able to view and manipulate your 3D setups. The software is available for download from here Orthoviewer
Where can I download the free Ortho Viewer software?
The software can be downloaded from the download section of the website, under Laboratory. Click HERE to go to the download section.
Can I view the 3D setups using an Apple Mac?
Yes, the 3D set ups can be viewed on an Apple Mac but the files need to be exported in a different format. Please ensure that you write Apple Mac user clearly on your lab docket if this is the case. You will need to install "Open Flipper" app from your Apple store to be able to view the files. If you have further problems, then please call Dawn on 0121 7020456.
How do I install and use the Ortho viewer software?
Full instructions for installing and using the software can be found in the download section by clicking here
How long is each aligner worn for?
The first aligner is worn for 4 weeks and all subsequent aligners are worn for 2 weeks. It should be worn all of the time except for eating, drinking and oral hygiene. Only move onto the next aligner when your current one feels passive.
Can I give a case go ahead by telephone?
No. All notifications for the go ahead of treatment should be sent by e-mail.
Can patients eat and drink whilst wearing SmileTRU clear positioners?
No, the SmileTRU appliance should be removed for eating, oral hygiene and for drinking any fluids other than cold water.
Are there any dietary restrictions when using SmileTRU?
No, as the positioners are removable for eating, there are no dietary restrictions when in SmileTRU therapy. You can still eat your favourite foods without fear of the appliance staining or breaking.
A properly fitting aligner should cover the teeth and fit snugly against the patients teeth.
There should be no gap between the aligner and the incisal edges of the teeth. If there is a gap in the first aligner then there is probably caused by an innaccurate 3D model. this could be the result of a distorted or poor quality impression or an error in the initial scanning of the model. Contact the lab and arrange for new impressions to be sent to us. If the fit of the aligners gets worse over the course of treatment, then this is probably due to the case not tracking correctly. This is usually due to poor compliance by the patient not wearing the aligner for long enough before moving onto the next one. Try going back a step with the previous aligner, if this fits, wear this one for another week and then try the next aligner again. You may need to go back 2 steps if necessary. If this doesn't work then an in treatment correction will be required, please send us new impressions for this.
You will need to impress on your patients the importance of wearing the aligners for 22 hours a day, just removing them for eating, drinking and oral hygiene. Any non compliance is likely to lead to tracking issues in their case. Patients must inform you immediately if they feel that the fit is not correct to prevent the case going too far off track.
Some signs of non compliance are:
Cfast sounds too good to be true – what’s the catch?
There isn’t one. Cfast is a fast, effective and affordable treatment when adult patients are seeking to correct their smiles. Because it does not claim to address major orthodontic issues, Cfast can be done very quickly, making it more affordable than most other orthodontic options.
How does Cfast differ from other fast orthodontics programs?
There are minor differences in technique between Cfast and other programs. The major difference is the cost of the training: Cfast costs only £599 compared with £1500 for other programs.
How can Cfast straighten the teeth in such a short time?
Cfast takes less time because it focuses only on the “social six”, the front teeth that most influence the smile. The process is further enhanced with the use of special nickel-titanium wires, which exert gentle pressure to force movement in the teeth.
Braces are unpopular with adult patients. Isn’t it the same with Cfast?
No. With its clear brackets and tooth-colored wires, Cfast is barely noticeable – and they’re worn for a fraction of the time compared to traditional braces.
Normal braces can be very uncomfortable for the patient. Is Cfast?
Standard orthodontic mechanics are still involved, but because it's just the front teeth, the force required is minimal. The nickel-titanium wires exert mild pressure to force the teeth to move, and this is done without the need for severe tightening.
Is a retainer necessary at the end of treatment?
Yes. Like all tooth-straightening treatments, the gains of Cfast may be lost if a retainer is not worn. The patient can choose between a removable retainer and a permanently bonded retainer. The choice depends on preference and the individual case.
